John Shelton Reed

John Shelton Reed – Chancellor of the Fellowship of Southern Writers – taught for 31 years in the Department of Sociology at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.  Since his retirement he has held visiting positions at over a dozen colleges and universities in the U. S. and abroad, most recently as a visiting fellow at Clare Hall, Cambridge University.  Most of the 18 books he has written or edited deal with the American South.  He is now working on Dixie Bohemia: The French Quarter in the 1920s, which will be published by LSU Press.
